Scope of Work for Truckee River Ecosystem Restoration Coordination
Project Sponsor: Nevada Land Conservancy
Grant amount: $10,000
Organization Match:
$2,500 (in-kind)
Funding date: June 2009
Grant # 66
This project will create a 5-year plan to coordinate weed control, restoration, monitoring, and community education efforts to protect and enhance water quality and water resources of the Truckee River and its watersheds. The goal is to formalize and coordinate weed control and supervision, while adding monitoring to determine measurable results as well as community education activities.
TMWA Benefit:
Watershed and water quality is maintained by controlling the spread of invasive weed species that can adversely impact the stability of riverbanks along the Truckee River. Maintaining the native riparian habitat along the river is vital to reducing erosion and adverse sediment loading to the river.
