Truckee River Bank Stabilization at Oxbow Park

This project involves the restoration of river bank along the north bank of the Truckee River within the City of Reno’s Oxbow Park. The river bank has seen considerable erosion starting with the 1997 flood and again with flood conditions in 2005. Riparian habitat will be reestablished along the restored river bank. A significant cash match is being provided by FEMA to assist in the project.

 

TMWA Benefit
TMWA benefits from by improving protection of Truckee River and mitigation of erosion and sediment loading on the Truckee River. This project will serve to protect the Glendale Plant from additional sediment and turbidity loading during high flow and flood events.
