This proposal is to support implementation of actions that will reduce the risk of catastrophic fire and subsequent erosion of sediment into the lake. The implementation plan is based on the findings and recommendations of a Registered Professional Forester, whose work was funded by an earlier grant from the Truckee River Fund.







TMWA Benefit
Independence Lake serves as the uppermost municipal water storage facility for TMWA. The water in this reservoir/lake makes up part of TMWA’s drought supply. Protecting the watershed around Independence Lake is critical to preserving the pristine water quality of this resource.
