Summary: This project consists of erosion control; installation of debris basins; channel cleaning and debris removal; installation of an early warning flood system; reseeding; installation of gates, signs, and fencing; and rehabilitation of the 2700-acre Hawken Fire burn area.
The project area includes 72% federal and 28% non-federal land. The Forest Service Burn Area Emergency Response (BAER) team evaluated the needs for emergency stabilization on the entire burn area, focusing on areas of greatest impact. Total estimated cost to stabilize the burned area is $353,600. The cost to stabilize the non-federal land is $228,000.

Additional rehabilitation work needed within the Hawken Fire Burn area is reseeding 500 acres of critical mule deer winter range, which will also prevent erosion and the onset of noxious weeds, and reforesting portions of Alum Creek with native Ponderosa and Jeffrey Pine.
To maintain the hydro-seeded area, irrigating approximately 30 acres is necessary to improve the success of the project. Administrative costs for fundraising, fund management, facilitating treatments, and recruiting volunteers is also covered by these grants.
