2010 Weed Treatments and Re-vegetation - Truckee River and Tributaries

Project Sponsor: Nevada Land Conservancy
Grant amount: $125,000
Organization Match:
$30,000 (cash) and $1,250 (in-kind)
Funding date: December 2009
Grant # 70

This grant will support the implementation of weed control and restoration work along the Truckee River as identified in the Truckee Meadows Weed Coordinating Group’s Action Plan. The 2010 program will be focused in the “Verdi to Stateline area” with secondary work planned downstream of Verdi to Steamboat Creek. Tree planting in selected areas will also be performed.

TMWA Benefit:
This restoration work benefits the river by mitigating erosion potential from weed proliferation and replacement of weed-impacted areas with natural riparian and riverbank vegetation. This will improve the tree canopy along the river corridor with positive impact to water temperature.
